WHEREAS
After about 50 years there are many doubts about the guilt of Sergeant Lee Harvey Oswald in the matter of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.
The 1979 House Special Committee on Assassinations determined that there were "at least two gunmen" involved.
Sergeant Oswald always maintained his innocence and was not able to be tried in court due to his being silenced by Jack Ruby.
There were many powerful men with the means, motive, and opportunity to kill the President, and cover it up.
It is an unfair dishonor and insult to the United States Marine Corps to accuse a Marine without a fair trial.
By the U.S. Constitution, a man is innocent until proven not so, beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law.
WE RESPECTFULLY DEMAND
That any references in U.S. Government publications or announcements about Lee Harvey Oswald include his title of Private First Class as he served and was discharged honorably.
The word "alleged" or "accused" be included in any statements involving Sergeant Oswald's possible involvement in the assassination.
